Celebrity style? What is it? Why can’t we seem to look so divine? You don’t need to ape a celebrity from head to toe. Just adopt a couple of trends that you like. Any more and you look like a trend-whore, not a style icon.
Given below are the key beauty trends this year:
Deep red lips - Pink is for little girls. Real women dare to go red. Deep vampy red, worn matte, is the color of the season. Notice how Ashley Olsen looks all grown up and lady-like with the swipe of one layer of lipstick. Must have accessory with deep red lips? White teeth. And of course, leave the rest of the face simple. You don’t want to look like a runaway clown.

Coral Lips - A fun alternative to the vampy red trend is the coral red lip color. Paired with pale skin and black eyeliner, lipsticks in warm tones of red look abso-amazing. Trend spotted on some of Hollywood’s hottest pouts, including on Evan Rachel Wood, Kirsten Dunst and Carmen Electra.

Cat eyes - Go beyond smokey eyes this season. Catalina Sandino Moreno and Eva Mendes channel extreme ’60s glamour. The key eye shadow colors are navy blue, and black.

False eyelashes - If you don’t have it, fake it. At least when it comes to your eyelashes. If nothing else, at least learn how to use an eyelash curler to maximize your own set.

Black nails - A must for any fashionista, no matter what season. If you are serious about style, you need to own Chanel Black Satin. To work this look, keep your nails short and your polish glossy.

Intentional Roots - Not long ago, this was the biggest faux pas. Now, celebs like Sienna Miller and Drew Barrymore proudly flaunt their roots. Notice how the darker roots make the hair color look even lighter and luminous. Works best with loads of confidence and a bohemian outlook.

Straight hair - Curls are out. Poker-straight hair is in again for spring. Take a leaf out of Penelope Cruz’s and Ellen Pompeo’s book, and get your straightening irons out again.

Braids - Braids aren’t for schoolgirls any more! Update your schoolgirl look with a heavy dose of loose, wispy bangs. BFF Paris Hilton and Kimberly Steward work the farm-girl look.

Extreme bangs - Lash-busting bangs are in. Bangs need to fall at least till your eye-level. Who cares if you can see! Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson and Nellie Furtado join the radical fringe. Again, bangs look best on super-straight hair.

Thin black hair bands - As seen on Sandra Bullock, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Angular bobs - Forget ‘The Rachel’, adopt ‘The Pob’ (named after Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Beckham’s wonderfully angular bob). Notice how it makes one’s cheekbones pop. You want that, right?

Buns - No longer considered haughty, buns are fast becoming a glamorous updo alternative. As seen on Jaime King and Jessica Simpson.
