Unless you’ve been cohabiting under a rock, you probably have heard of uber-stylist Rachel Zoe (pronounced ‘zo’ and not ‘zo-ey’ if you are really in the know). Zoe has transformed the looks of Hollywood nympthets Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie, and Keira Knightley. Not to mention the thousands of Zoebots that are intimating her every look and wandering the streets of LA. Rachel adoringly used to call Barton, Lohan, and Ritchie ‘my girls’ - that is, until Nicole Ritchie severed ties with Zoe, so she could be in the presence of ‘positive influences.’

Nevertheless, the Zoe-Express rolls on. She’s been recently signed as the creative consultant for the brand Halston. A dream job for Zoe: She’s forever dresses in 70’s Halston frocks. She said:

But I’m also continuing to style and proceed with all of my other endeavors,” she stressed. “Styling is one of the most important things to me, so I would never stop.

Zoe, 32, has been criticized for foisting diet-drug cocktails on her clients to whittle them into sample sizes, and suffering herself from an eating disorder that has ravaged her tiny frame. In response, Zoe said:

It’s like being punished by your parents for something you didn’t do.

I’ve never touched a drug in my life. Until recently, I didn’t even know what crystal meth was. And I haven’t known the name of a diet drug since Dexatrim in the ’80s. The only person I’ve told to lose weight is my mom.

On accusations that she is media-whore, grabbing the spotlight away from her clients, she says:

It [Snatching the spotlight] was never my intention. I never set out to be in the public eye.

On her clients, Zoe says:

I nurture these girls. We’re like family. I don’t know how to do it any other way. We laugh, we fight, we let our guards down. If we bond, we have to hang out.

Ms. Zoe, who reportedly commands up to $6,000 a day for talking her clients out of their dungarees and baseball caps (a figure she would not confirm), acknowledged that the gossip stings. ‘Over the last year I’ve learned to develop a really thick skin,’ she said.

Zoetally fantastic.
